Review: Battle of the Bands

What is it?

Battle of the Bands is a Wii-exclusive Planet Moon-developed THQ rhythm game. The game follows a template laid out by Guitar Hero in a lot of ways, but takes things in a bit of an interesting alternate direction. The game is played entirely as a duel, rather than a competition to just finish the song without screwing up too bad. The goal is to score more points than the opposing band by doing a better job matching the on-screen prompts and foil their gameplay with a variety of distracting attacks. Happy New Year!!- Nintendo Plans DS game Downloads through our Wii Systems

203233225469e726841fc31.jpgWell I hope everyone had a happy new year, mine was decent although grandpa did manage to beat me in 12 games of pool. “But I did manage to win one!” Which really shocked me because I hardly ever win a game. I think it was a smell of lasagna that gave me that little extra boost of energy. My wife and grandma have been in the kitchen pretty much all day, preparing the sauce, desserts and some of my wife’s favorite and “mine” thumb print cookies with just a little sprinkle of powdered sugar. Oh yeah can forget about Frankie… grandma and grandpa always spoil him. The only question is? Where are we going to find the room for his payload. My wife and I got another hummingbird for our collection and a real nice rotisserie, “we love our rotisserie chicken!” That was the perfect gift!

I did manage to jump online today, and do a bitter research. And found out, Nintendo plans DS game downloads through our wii systems. I guess you will be able to download games to an online to wii shop channel. And from what I understand you will then be able transfer those files to your DS portable via a wireless capabilities of both systems “pretty cool.”

I guess it really doesn’t come as any surprise, considering the number of DS download stations located at many retailers already allow such functionality and Nintendo previously announced they would come to do wii system someday — the inclusion of full games is quite a bit more surprising.

Still unknown if full games bit refers to digitally distributed versions of existing games, compatibility with downloaded we virtual console titles, or wiiware software specifically designed for portable.

As of right now, the DS system can only hold one demo at a time in its internal memory. Once you have downloaded, users cannot power off the system or run any other software without losing the demo.

It could get better… Nintendo I’m sure will release some type of storage device for the system — like a blank DS card, a blank Game Boy advance cartridge — to increase his capacity at later date. Some Nintendo DS games, such as Jupiter’s already — released Picross and level — 5’s upcoming Professor Layton and the Curious Village, already allow owners to hop online with a portable and download new content.

Personally I can’t see why these blank cards are not already out. Considering, wireless capabilities and the route that they planned on taking. “But who am I to question Nintendo and their main game plan” I am sure they have their reasons.

My family and I want to wish you a very happy new year!! And hope that all of the resolutions that you set for yourselves for this upcoming year are achieved! As for myself, my resolutions are to spend more time with my family, get my old 68 cougar up and running “still have a lot of work to do on that baby” oh, and to do a little bit better on my “honey to do” lists. I have been slacking lately… Wish you guys the best!!

Wii System Review-Say Good-Bye to the Couch Potato

nintendo-wii5.jpgOne things for sure, you will not be known as the couch potato any longer. The wii system went the extra mile to make sure interactive means exactly that. Now when you purchase the wii system it already comes with the wii sports pack “first off”. And the sports package can be played individually or “which is way more fun” with a group of players. Each player controls their own characters by his or hers own movements.

Your worn out fingers and thumbs are truly a thing of the past from now on. The Wii-remote and Nunchuks wirelessly control game play. Each remote senses the person’s movement by using the sensor bar and Bluetooth technology.

Another great benefit to this system is… If you are a parent you will no longer have to worry about your children spending un-healthy amounts of time sitting in front of a video game”theres no sitting here!.” This game system will take afterschool activities to a whole new level “a healthy one at that”. It is completely impossible to just sit down and play these games “if you want to get anywhere with them”; No more broken objects laying around the house from occasional balls being thrown around indoors. I like most of the games, and they do provide a heck of a work-out!. From what I have read studies have actually been shown that just by playing some of these games on a regular basis has helped with overall health and not to mention increases your blood circulation dramatically.

The people down at Nintendo must be very family oriented..All I know is that our family time has increased ten fold since we got the darn thing “it’s been great!” My own wife detested video games for most of her life, until we got this now even I am having trouble getting in on a little game time “since she started messing with it”. And for Gradndparent that can’t quite get around like they use to, now even they can have fun with their grandchildren on a little one on one bowling action.

The Wii system also has wifi that can be used to leave special messages for family members (instead of sticking it to your refrigerator) as well as being able to send emails to all your friends including cell phones and other Wii systems. You can also surf the web on the internet and find anything you care to search for. If you like you can download games for the Wii system using Wii points as well.

And if you are worried about being able to play the games you loved to play back in the 80’s,early 90’s and so on all you have to do is pick-up the wii’s classic controller and your on your way. Wii has the ability to be used to play more than 150 of the games from older systems including NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64 games, TurboGrafx-16 and Sega Genesis games. More games are being added as time goes on. Some of these  Virtual console games can be purchased for $5 to $10.

Another wii pack do to be out in 2008 is called wii fit.I believe it’s going to hit japan some time sooner than that. This pressure sensitive balance board makes exercising that much more fun. Playing soccer, dancing and playing games with the Wii more interactive than ever before. By standing on the pressure sensitive board while playing and exercising the board you control your character on screen. Whether it is dancing lessons or playing hula-hoop this accessory promises hours of family fun.

The Wii fit transforms the game System into your own personal trainer. Nintendo’s Wii Fit will be used in exercises such as push-ups, yoga, ski jumping and other exercises. Muscle conditioning, Aerobic exercise, yoga poses, balance games, and other power motions were included in the demonstration of Nintendo Fit when it was announced back in July 2007.”You know our School systems are going to take a whole new look at this wii system.”

OOOOH Wii in Trouble Now!

11wrhloorkl__aa110_.jpgI knew it was just a matter of time before, my oldest son had some of his friends come over to the house to play a friendly game of wii boxing
And “thats when it happened…” I guess his buddy decided he wasn’t going to use the wrist strap. Well, he got a bit carried away with the wii-remote and it  flew right out of his hand and busted one of our humming bird figurines! valued at “$450.00.” Needless to say my wife was quite upset! Considering the kid did not have the money to replace it. “or even the means to do something about it.” And we weren’t about to fork over another $450.00 to replace it… I was extremely amazed though at how tough these wii-motes really are! I decided because my wife was so upset, that I was going to go ahead a pay for a new one “going against what I said earlier” just because we have had that darn thing for so long, and she really loved it. So to me it was really a “No Brainer!”

Well, to my surprise my son had called Nintendo without me knowing it. And told them the whole story, filed a report with them, and had also sent them pictures of the crime scene LOL. And an amazing thing happened they actually paid the whole $450.00 for the hummingbird statue. Now if thats not a good testament for customer service I don’t know what is. Now, ofcourse I was proud of my son for taking the ball and running with it… But in all reality I could not except there check”trust me I wanted to…”” but just couldn’t” at least not with a good conscience. After all it was our fault, those straps are there for a reason…

But I had thanked my son anyway, and did explain why I felt this way and that his heart was in the right direction and he did good, and I was proud of him. But, just for the mere gesture that Nintendo was willing to pay for something they literally had nothing to do with. Just amazed me to all heaven. That right there gave me a whole different respect for this company.I knew they were a solid company, but had no real idea on how solid they really were until this little incident happened. A win, win, win situation my wife was tickled pink about getting her humminbird back. My son felt awesome for being able to handle a situation like a professional, and I felt great because everything turned out as if it had never even happened. Although next time we are going to glue the controller to his buddies arm.

Have a Great Christmas Everyone!!

Only 6 Days Left until Christmas! How will you get a wii system under that tree?

nintendo-wii-system.jpgWell, you may have to wait until after Christmas. It’s just that these darn wii systems seem to sell out as soon as they come in. When your kids wake-up Christmas morning and discover no wii under the tree. I know they may be heart broken… But just try, and explain to them that Santa could not deliver these with the regular gifts in fear that they would get damaged from all the roof hopping he does. But he will have them specially packed and out to them just a bit after christmas to insure that they receive them perfect condition”because of how special they are”.

Now,for the older kids who’s beliefs may be different towards Old Saint Nick. Nintendo tells us that they are going to fall a little short of this incredible demand for its $250 gaming system. But conservative’s have estimated that Nintendo will get at least a million more Wii systems into the channel in the following months.

Want to secure that you get your? Do it now!! and be the first at the next shipment.

Also I have found out for some reason Sunday turns out to be the best day to place an order.
I guess it’s because most retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart release their weekly ads. And if they advertise Wii system in the paper, or online they will put a hold on some of systems for the day the ad hits.
“Most times, stores will give each person waiting tickets before the doors actually open”.  These should definatly  be the first stores you visit, since you will find out before they open for business whether or not you will get your hands on a Wii system. And then, taking after the iPhone lady, you can always buy out someone’s place in line if you’re too late.

Now,for me I can’t stand waiting in line for really any length of time.I get all my shopping done online, for me it’s less of a hassle not to mention I can usually jump right in front of the line and never have to leave my house. “Why give myself a headache for no reason right!”

The real trick here is to get your hands on the ads before Sunday morning, so you know where to line up. But if you are like me I find it much more easier just to login into my computor and go from there a lot of times you can end up jumping way ahead of the pack. Well I hope you all can get your hands on a wii system before Christmas…But if not don’t dispair, follow some of the advice above and you will have one in no time. Well, good luck on your search. I wish you a very Merry Christmas! and Happy Holidays from the Kershaw Family.
