What is it?

Battle of the Bands is a Wii-exclusive Planet Moon-developed THQ rhythm game. The game follows a template laid out by Guitar Hero in a lot of ways, but takes things in a bit of an interesting alternate direction. The game is played entirely as a duel, rather than a competition to just finish the song without screwing up too bad. The goal is to score more points than the opposing band by doing a better job matching the on-screen prompts and foil their gameplay with a variety of distracting attacks. I have given myself the title Resident AH! Video Game Expert, and thus I feel I need to review a game that I know at least one other AH! contributor owns. It’s Mario Kart Wii for (you guessed it) the Nintendo Wii.
It’s either the sixth or eighth installment of the franchise, depending on if you count Japanese Arcade titles and it’s the first version of the game on the Nintendo Wii. What is interesting about the Mario Kart series is they have never made a Mario Kart more than once on any one system (again, besides Japanese Arcades). That’s interesting because that means there is usually at least three years between any two Mario Kart titles.

The Wii Crossbow

Hey, guys just thought I would give you a little feed back on this. “AWESOME!!!” I was really getting into the boxing & actually getting into some pretty good shape. But, then my son came home with this and… Well, what can I say… This Wii Zapper gun just blew me away. Still don’t know what the heck game I was playing with him, doesent matter to me though I just like shooting stuff!! Anyway, the Wii-mote just snaps into it and your ready to go. Well, first off I want to apoloize for not posting anything for a little while… My Uncle ” who I was very close to” Passed-Away right before New Years and I had to fly out to New York. ” He was a great guy… And will be missed by many” but mostly me. Anyway, I’m back!  And I have noticed a few questions in my mailbox. So, what I have decided to do is go through them and share them with everybody… So everyone can benefit from the Q & A’s. I think that would be a nice thing to do.

Ok, before I actually do this… I believe, I will put some sort of Disclaimer up… Like use at your own risk!! Just kidding But, now seriously you should really evaluate the advice given here… I do know a bit about the subject of the Wii System, Now whether, the qualfies me to give advice… Maybe? in some areas that I believe I know. Other than that, you guys should also seek other advice as well… Don’t just take my word, Any advice I give is stricktly from my own experience. An may or maynot work for you.

OK, I just had to let you guys know that… Now I might decide to keep this as an on-going section to my site. ” I don’t know?”  I guess i’ll see how it plays out!

Well, right now I have time to post one Question… There will be more tomorrow, after I get some sleep… “Jet-Lag” you know how it is… ” Wow first question!!”

Question:  I have a Wii System Question before I Buy?

Now, I love my x-box system… But I’m getting older now, and really would love playing more games that revolve around Golf, boxing, tennis etc. Another reason would be to play more games with my girlfriend… And it seems there’s more activity games that we can play toghether. Now, a friend of mine who is usually full of B.S tells me that you will need to have a flat screen TV and that the TV be at a high level. Right, now my TV is at about sofa level. My question is can I still  get one and be able to play it properly? Oh, sorry…

One more question… Are there any cables I can use “VGA” that are currently on the market so I can use it with my PC Monitor?

Answer: Now, I’m not 100% certain on the cable issue… But I do believe there may be some third party cables being made now… And as far as needing a Flat Screen… I believe your friend is pulling your leg… What you do need, is a TV that has composite cable inputs ( you know for the triple cables yellow,red,white )

Second, you really don’t have to worry so much about the level your TV sits… Just make sure there are no obstructions surrounding it. As, you may already know the wii detects the controller movements by a sesor bar, which you place underneath or in my case on-top of the TV.

It’s amazing how kooky you get late at night… My wife is yelling right now for me to get to bed! But, hey I’m not done with my coffee yet LOL. Anyway really short post… Just want to catch up with you guys, and let you know it’s been a very busy week for me. And I haven’t been able to post as much as I can, but that should change once I complete the project I’m on right now. I hope all of you are well, And if your reading this right now “Get to Bed!!! Alright you may have a received a wii system for Christmas and now you want to find out what are the “must haves” or at least where to start.  Here are what I found to be the top 10 best accessories to optimize your Wii and have much more fun:

All depending on the size of your family. Mine being 5 kids most moved out but still come around quite regularly.

1. 1.You may need Extra Controllers – And as you may have already found out the wii system only comes with one controller wiimote and one nunchuk.”So you may have to add a couple. It really just depends on whether you plan on playing with your friends and family. And trust me it is way more fun the more people you get involved “takes it to a whole other level”. 
2. Sports Pack – Wii Sports Packs actually features a few really cool attachments including: A Golf Grip, baseball bat and Tennis Racket Grip, and all of them attach rather quickly and safely to the Wii Remote, taking the game play to a whole different experience. You realy feel like you are there with these attachments. If you are a sports lover, this will satisfy you.
3. Wii Steering Wheel – the Wii Steering Wheel is a must have and totaly ideal for any and all Wii racing games, again changing your Wii Remote into an a real life racing wheel.
4. Better Cables – You do get rca cables with your wii system, but if you are one of the lucky ones and have an Plasma TV, DLP or LCD, then you will get a way better picture if you pick-up s-video cable or component cables. While the Wii does not have support for HD, you can still get a great video (480px) by just having these two Wii accessories than with having what originally come with the system.
5. Rechargeable Batteries (AA batteries).Now I happened to luck out in this… My wife works for Kings Soopers a “grocery mart” and she just so happens to work in the photo area. She actually removes the batteries from old disposable cameras that still have quite a bit of life still left in them and then brings bags of batteries home. “As a matter of fact you yourself may be able to go to your local grocers,the ones that have a photo lab… And ask them if you can take the batteries that they get from the disposables.” Never know could end up saving you a little money. “Hows that for a freebie tip for ya!” OK that being said… . It might be a good bet to purchase a charger and four rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries.  Its pretty cheap considering the price of buying AA batteries over and over will add up.
6. GameCube Controller – If you plan on using some of your old or even new Nintendo GameCube games with your Wii system you will definatly need a GameCube controller, so go check out the Wavebird for a wireless controller.
7. SD card -Now,the Wii system already comes with 512mb but as you will soon see many gamers fill these up quickly. So save yourself a headache and pick up a 1GB or as in my case a 2GB card. They are very (affordable right now.)
8. Sensor Bar – Another thing the wii system comes with but these at times often break and it might make sense that you keep an extra sensor bar as a backup (they to are very inexpensive).
9. Wii Points Game card – I would probably say one of the sweetest things about the Wii system is its Virtual abilities console, which lets everyone purchase the classic games from the old Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super NES, the Nintendo 64, the Sega Genesis, and the TurboGrafx-16. Some of the titles include: Donkey Kong (NES), Super Mario 64 (N64), and Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis). To purchase the downloadable titles, you will need to use Nintendo money known as Wii Points (very similar to the Microsoft Points on Xbox Live), which as of right now have an exchange rate of 100 points per U.S. dollar.And you can buy Wii Points directly through the console’s online store, or use the prepaid Wii Points Cards.
10. Guitar Hero – I saved the best for last here Is one of the best Wii games that I have played. But I guess i’m kind of “bias” I am a living rock&roll nut!! but the beauty of this is that it already comes with the ultimate Wii accessory, a guitar.  If you haven’t played Wii Guitar Hero you need to rock out on this baby… Oh, and I almost forgot… They have Drum attachments to for all you thunder warriors out there.

Hey guys, here’s something that my niece was telling me about the other day. “I would never try it” I dont think I can bust the moves I use to be able to bust!! LOL. But if you have a daughter who know Hannah Montana ” Yeah right, what little girl doesn’t!” Anyway, getting to the point… She just loves this! And says It is so fantastic that I should let you guys know ablout it…”If you don’t know about it already….

I guess, from what I understand about it you get to share the stage with Hannah Montana! by using the Wii remote & Nunchuck you and Hannah get to dance together. The “premise” to gain more fans… And once you get off stage, you are able to create your own concert wardrobes by shopping all over the world. She also told me  that you are never alone… Lilly, Oliver, Jackson, and Robbie are always willng to help you when they can.

You can also tour the POP world yourself and live the dream of a rock star!  Being able to sing and perform Hannahs #1 hits! ” With a little practice…”  Earn new fans by interacting with all your dancers and your crowd. Plan out your own tour schedule and go to places like Paris, London, and even Tokyo “do some more shopping!” You are also able to control your own lighting and stage effects for the best concert you can put together…”Something to realy remember!” Not to mention the ability to share photos of fashion designs and share with all your friends your dances that you have recorded.
And also  before I forget… Compared to Dance Revolution… This game is much more easier to learn and seems to even have a bit more to it “Go figure!” At least that’s what she tells me… I guess she would know she plays it non-stop. So really I’m going after what she said “where did I hear that before!” Oh well, I hope you guys have as much fun as she’s been having with this. Every one at this point, should already realize that the Nintendo Wii is an awesome gaming system and even more is being said about thier accessories lately. Japan sold one million Nintendo Wii Fit packages in a month. Now, thats not counting what was sold here in the states.

Also, not to mention the software and hardware bundle had reached an incredible milestone on the 6th of Jan, after it’s introduction  into the market on the first of Dec. Says Nikkei.

After the unveiling of the Wii fit at the E3 last year by Mr. Miyamoto he has represented Nintendo’ push to expand the industry to another level in the conventional video game market.

The Nintendo Wii Fit is incredible and is essentially a balance board peripheral and software that will imitate a fitness workout, there are over 40 types of training activities which will give you a surprise attack in fitness. So, if you have not worked out in awhile… Be fore warned!

I have heard that the Nintendo Wii might be causing some injuries.

At least thats what one local doctor had said on, Cincinnati television station WLWT reported

Some complaints of muscle soreness and injuries from playing the game for any extended amount of time are piling up

So fast, there are a few Web sites out there showing some substantial injuries gamers have gotten — a black eye, a bloody hand, a knot on the knee and arms in slings. ” I myself the other day popped myself under the chin” no big deal though…

Those type of injuries you wouldn’t expect from indoor play with a video game, ” Well I don’t know about that… On some of the games the way you start wailing around I wasn’t the least bit surprised, that you would end up nailng yourself once in a while.” Dr. Bret Bruder said. “The popularity of it, the explosion of this has been unexpected and amazing.”

Bruder, an emergency department doctor, said injuries are adding up as more people get the game.

Unlike previous game systems, the Wii often demands considerable physical motion to play effectively.

And the sheer popularity and fun of the game system doesn’t help matters.

“You get caught up and you don’t want to quit and take a break,” Matt Vieth said

“Young children through middle-age people (are) being over exuberant, coming in after hours and hours with their arms, shoulders and joints aching,” Bruder said.

Zach Martin had problems with his arms after boxing a few rounds on the Wii.

“It kind of stresses out sometimes,” he said.

Bruder said a little common sense goes a long way.

“A little bit of stretching if you’re going to be doing some of the more vigorous activities like the golf and tennis,” he said. “Don’t play for hours and hours on end. Try to spread it out. We know it’s fun, it’s addictive, but keep it to a limit.”

Well, I totally agree with the stretching part.. It totally helps alot, and makes a big difference. Along with a lot of water, if your playing alot of the sports game. Better yet “Gatorade!”

Personally, I don’t have to worry about playing hours upon hours. First I just don’t have the time…Second, I know my limits of game time… And I don’t care how into it I get… When I’m done… I’m done!
